INFINITI upgrade makes leading global food manufacturer’s data centre fit for new Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) implementation.
With a worldwide supply network and a portfolio of branded and own brand products, our client is a leading international food manufacturer and one of Europe’s fastest growing food and drink groups. In December 2017 the company began planning a data centre upgrade. They needed to make sure that their facilities were fit for purpose for the new manufacturing execution systems (MES) they were due to implement to control the manufacturing process on-site.

Challenge.
Making the data centre facilities fit for purpose for implementation of a new manufacturing execution system.
In order to maximise the potential and efficiency of a new MES, our client was seeking data centre improvements that included resilient power, fire suppression systems, structured cabling and an improved infrastructure.
Following a due diligence exercise, INFINITI
was chosen over competing providers.
They met with the client and began regular
planning meetings based on the client’s
requirements and the required standards.
Solution.
INFINITI managed the data centre construction, outfit and commission of an extension to the existing data centre server room for tracking and recording production processes through the new MES. The team fitted and installed:
- One-hour fire-rated walls, ceiling and steel security doors
- Heavy-duty flooring with anti-static vinyl
- A suspended ceiling for a hot air return plenum
- A full unit cooling system
- Fresh air supply systems
- Gas extraction, main power distribution unit (MPDU), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and fire suppression systems
Results.
The INFINITI team is now working on a new server room project for the client, this time in Cardiff. In addition, INFINITI is also working on ten further projects for the company, spanning the UK and Europe, testament to the positive experience and effective implementation they provide.
The global food manufacturer has been able to roll out the new manufacturing execution systems (MES) safe in the knowledge that it will function effectively and the data centre is completely fit for purpose.
INFINITI were proactive in offering advice, and flexible in making rapid changes to the planning and roll out when requested. The project was also completed on time in the ten weeks specified and within budget.
